West Lafayette Campus Status

Details about the current state of operations for all on the West Lafayette campus.

Last reviewed January 19, 2020. Subject to change.

Campus building access

  • Standard building access procedures in place.

Requirement for safe health practices, face masks

  • Anyone entering a campus building must correctly wear a face mask in all hallways, public spaces and common areas, including classrooms. Masks must be worn correctly in office and lab spaces if social distancing of six feet is not possible. Those in outdoor situations are also required to correctly wear a face mask if safe social distancing and gathering practices are not possible.
  • It is critically important that all students, faculty and staff monitor for and report any COVID-19-related symptoms to the Protect Purdue Health Center 24/7 by calling 765-496-INFO (4636) or toll-free at 833-571-1043.
  • COVID-19 testing is available at no cost for all students, faculty and staff.

Instruction

  • An alternative spring academic calendar is in place; on-campus instruction began Jan. 19, 2021 and finishes in May. To allow for this later start, the customary spring break period has been eliminated. In its place, three reading days have been added.
  • The spring semester is planned as a residential semester similar to the fall semester, with a focus on campus de-densification and offering hybrid/HyFlex courses.

Research activities

  • Researchers continue on-campus operations in a manner that complies with COVID-19 safety criteria for research spaces.
  • To de-densify on-campus spaces, researchers should continue to work remotely whenever possible.
