President Daniels welcome back video and announcement

Welcome back, Boilermakers,

I wish I could use the video below just for celebration and congratulation, but we all know a new year doesn’t mean we’ve left old problems behind. So in this message I remind Boilermakers that all the practices that got us through the fall will be every bit as important this spring. As new variants of the COVID virus emerge, we will be rigorously vigilant, and will ramp up the intensity of our in-semester testing.

I also announce that Wednesday, as our nation congratulates the new president on a campaign fairly and indisputably won, Purdue will sponsor a daylong academic program that will examine the history and meaning of Inauguration Day and the orderly, peaceful transfer of power it represents.

I hope you will watch the video and will return to campus ready to continue to Protect Purdue, and to demonstrate the civility, mutual support, and genuine affection for one another that celebrates our diversity in all its forms.

I look forward to seeing you in person after a reflective and meaningful Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Boiler Up,

Mitch
