Purdue suspends travel to China

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University has suspended all university-sponsored trips to China based on the U.S. State Department’s Level 4: Do Not Travel Advisory due to the novel coronavirus. The advisory, issued Jan. 30, recommends that U.S. citizens avoid travel to China, and asks those in the country to depart.

In addition, Purdue will end the study abroad semester early for six students in Shanghai, China, and return them to the United States. Purdue will cover travel costs for those affected and every effort will be made to ensure that the students have assistance regarding housing, financial resources and enrollment into classes once they return to campus.

Purdue has seen no positive cases of coronavirus and will continue to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and federal recommendations. Updates from the Purdue University Student Health Service can be found here.
