Are students arriving from outside the U.S. required to quarantine and/or be tested for COVID-19?
Yes. All travelers arriving on campus after international travel must complete any self-quarantine and/or testing protocols in effect at the time of return.
The current protocol calls forself-quarantine for 7 days upon return and prior to physical presence on any Purdue campus. Additionally, travelers must have a negative COVID-19 test result prior to returning to campus, with such testing recommended around days 5-7 after return from travel in the absence of earlier COVID-19-related symptoms. Travelers must complete the full 7-day quarantine and continue to monitor for any symptoms of COVID-19.
The Protect Purdue Health Center is reviewing these guidelines and will be evaluating vaccination status, including the use of some non-U.S. approved vaccines, as a possible way to exempt arriving students from lengthy quarantine protocols.
Additional details will likely be released in early April, but for now students should strongly consider receiving a vaccine endorsed by the World Health Organization before coming to campus.
